The India Gate is the national monument of India. Situated in the heart of New Delhi, India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, inspired by Arch de Triumph in Paris.

Following India's independence, India Gate became the site of the Indian Army's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, known as Amar Jawan Jyoti (The flame of the immortal soldier).

It was built in 1931. Originally known as All India War Memorial.

It is a prominent landmark in Delhi and commemorates the 90,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who lost their lives while fighting for the Indian Empire, or more correctly the British Raj in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War.

Third Destination : QUTUB MINAR

Yay!!!Entered Qutub Minar with an amazing news. I passed my sem exam with 71 % . I can't believe myself, though I do believe my friend who told me the result...Qutub Minar is looking very very beautiful today :D

The Qutub Minar is a tower located in Delhi, India. It is the world's tallest brick minaret with a height of 72.5 meters (237.8ft)
Construction commenced by Qutb-ud-din Aibak who won Delhi from Prithviraj under Muhammad Ghori as his commander in chief, and finished by Iltutmish.

It is surrounded by several other ancient and medieval structures and ruins, collectively known as Qutub complex.

The Qutub Minar is notable for being one of the earliest and most prominent examples of Indo-Islamic architecture

Star View :)

Iron Pillar is one of the world's foremost metallurgical curiosities, standing in the famous Qutub complex. According to the traditional belief, anyone who can encircle the entire column with their arms, with their back towards the pillar, can have their wish granted. Because of the corrosive qualities of sweat the government has built a fence around it for safety.

Everything is so beautiful :P this morning,I believe it has something to do with the good marks :D

Fourth Destination: Lotus Temple
The Bahá'í House of Worship in Delhi, India, popularly known as the Lotus Temple due to its flowerlike shape, is a Bahá'í House of Worship and also a prominent attraction in Delhi.

Small Info On Akshardham Temple

On 17 December 2007, Michael Whitty, an official world record adjudicator for Guinness World Records, traveled to Ahmedabad, India to present a new world record to Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, for the Akshardham complex.
The record was presented for Akshardham as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple.
The certificate states,
"BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi, India, is the world's largest comprehensive Hindu temple. It measures 356 ft (109 m). long, 316 ft (96 m). wide and 141 ft (43 m). high, covering an area of 86,342 sq ft (8,021.4 m2). The grand, ancient-style, ornately hand-carved stone temple has been built without structural steel within five years by 11,000 artisans and volunteers. His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, revered spiritual leader of BAPS, consecrated the temple on 6 November 2005. Akshardham showcases the essence of India's ageless art, borderless culture and timeless values.
Upon presentation of the award, Michael Whitty stated, "It took us three months of research, poring over the extensive architectural plans of the Akshardham and also those of other temples of comparable size, visiting and inspecting the site, before we were convinced that Akshardham deserved the title." :) Amazing , right??
Visit Akshardham to actually feel the magic :)

Finally some window shopping.I have been strictly told by dad not to flash out my hard earned money, and so I complied. I decided not to buy anything( I don't know why :P maybe the good marks effect :P ) but bcoz today my result was declared and too so +ve, and also as dad didn't accompany us to palika bazaar :P I was forced upon d privelege to buy something
"Minie atleast one top" " Atleast Buy something, Do you like this accessory??Do you like this scarf?? " hahaha..It was very funny as I always replied with a very innocent face " Oh its ok, I really don't need anything " :P
But eventually I was forced into a shop & my brother chose a top for me & I got pair of leggings too.I had always dreamed of getting one to pair with my oh-so-awesome boots B)

Lessons Learnt

1) You need to remember all the lessons learnt in the part 2 Travel Guide :D

2) You cannot carry any bags, mobiles or cameras inside Akshardham temple. Also make sure you dress appropriately ( read you need to be covered girls :P ) hahahha better dress modestly, you don't want to be embarrased :P I actually saw this happening and I don't want it to happen to anyone else :)

3) Chanchal Deluxe rates : 1700 for 4 bed room and 1400 for 2 bed room. It cost us 600/- for dinner for 5. and Breakfast costed us 700/- :D Funny , right?? But if you have a room booked then you get a free breakfast pass, it's an amazing buffet and if it's good cost is definitely secondary :)
